Lecturer/Assistant Professor*

The Quantum, Light and Matter Research Group is part of the School of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Southampton, which is currently ranked as a top-10 UK Physics department by the Guardian University Guide. We provide a truly supportive environment that enables you to be successful in developing your research activities by collaborating with groups from areas such as optoelectronics, computer science, nanotechnology and nanofabrication, life sciences, chemistry and mathematics. In addition, we are fortunate to have a mechanical workshop that you will have regular assess to. The Quantum, Light and Matter Research Group has 16 permanent academic staff, 20 research staff and approximately 35 PhD candidates. We welcome applications from those with both theoretical and experimental physics area, and from diverse research fields including the core topics of quantum science and technology (quantum communication, quantum simulators, quantum metrology), material science and nanotechnology (2D materials and/or perovskites, nanoelectronics, magnetism), and applied physics (soft robotics, biomechanics, AI, physics for space, physics for life sciences).

The successful candidate will have a PhD or equivalent professional qualifications and experience in Science or Engineering.
