Assistant Professor in Cellular and Molecular Metabolism

£36261 to £48677 per annum (pro-rata if applicable) depending on skills and experience. Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance.

We are seeking to appoint an Assistant Professor in Cellular and Molecular Metabolism, whose research interests complement existing strengths within the School.

Applicants should be able to give demonstrable evidence that their research publications since 2014 are REF-returnable as well as evidence of their ability to attract external funding.

Applicants should be prepared to contribute to teaching on relevant undergraduate courses delivered by the School (Biochemistry, Medicine, Sport and Exercise Science, Pharmacy), and should also be able to provide demonstrable evidence of teaching ability at the undergraduate level.

Support, training and mentoring will be provided in both teaching and research - the successful applicant will be closely aligned with an existing research group to offer support and guidance. Research mentoring will include support and sponsorship for joint funding applications (led by the applicant), training in co-supervision of postgraduate students and research development, to enable the successful applicant to develop both research and teaching independence during this appointment.

Candidates must hold a PhD or equivalent in a subject area relevant to cellular and molecular biology, and evidence of independent research achievements. The candidate should also have demonstrable ability in effective research leadership, planning and building and resourcing a research team and delivering research results.
