Within the Durham University Business School, there will be three departments: Accounting; Economics and Finance, and Management and Marketing.
It is during this exciting time of change and growth, that the University seeks to appoint a dynamic and ambitious Head of Department and Professor of Accounting. The Department is ranked in the World Top 100 for Accounting and Finance in the QS World Universities Ranking by Subjects for 2019, 12th in the Complete University Guide for 2018/19 and fifth for graduate prospects. Taking a strategic lead in the department, the successful candidate will engender within Accounting the vision of the University for excellence in world-leading research, student education and the student experience. Reporting to the Executive Dean of Durham University Business School, the postholder will work in close consultation with the Deputy Heads of Faculty and other Heads of Department to create a truly interdisciplinary and interconnected teaching and research environment.
A truly outstanding academic, the successful candidate will demonstrate world-leading and world-changing research with outputs consistently recognised as internationally excellent. S/he will also be able to evidence excellence in the development and delivery of teaching and the promotion of student experience.
