PA to Herchel Smith Professor of Biochemistry (Fixed Term)

Applications are invited for a PA in the University of Cambridge, Department of Biochemistry working with the research group of Professor Jussi Taipale. The group includes both experimental biologists and computer scientists, and is currently composed of seven postdoctoral fellows.

The role requires the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people internally as collaborators and funding bodies Experience in the management and organisation of international travel would be of advantage, including planning, scheduling, flights, hotel, ground transportation and the associated expense filing. You will be expected to assist Professor Taipale with grant applications and reporting, letter writing, documentation, filing and diary management. Drafting skills, including proof reading would be of benefit. You will work closely with the University of Cambridge administration regarding employment contracts, recruitment, finance, expenses and invoicing as regards the research group.

The applicant must have excellent communication and organisational skills and be used to working to tight deadlines with attention to detail. The ability to prioritize and plan your own workload independently is essential, in addition to being flexible and able to work on your own initiative within agreed boundaries.

Candidates should be educated to A-level (or equivalent), or have a high level of practical experience and relevant PA/Secretarial experience. Website management and experience of events organisation would be highly desirable.

The interviews are expected to take place in April 2019.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 2 years in the first instance.
