Full time starting salary is normally in the range £19,581 to £20,939. With potential progression once in post to £25,509 a year.

Hospitality and Accommodation Services (HAS) is looking for a Graphic Designer to join their busy marketing team. HAS is responsible for a very large range of services within the University of Birmingham: student accommodation, catering, cleaning and waste management, conferences and events, delivering the University’s post, day nurseries, security, Winterbourne House & Garden, ensuring we remain at the pinnacle of University sport in the UK and more.

Required knowledge, skills and experience
• Highly creative with a sharp sense of design, layout and conceptual thinking
• Proficient in Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator (Adobe Creative Cloud)
• Strong attention to detail, working accurately and checking work to ensure there are no mistakes
• Be able to estimate the time required to complete the work and have the ability to meet deadlines in a high-pressure environment
• Think creatively and develop new design concepts
• A driven and passionate approach to work with a determination to succeed
• The willingness to listen to feedback and use it to improve
• A keen interest in keeping up to date with design trends (print and online)industry trends – an awareness of what competitors are doing in the design industry
• Self-learning, able to learn new tools quickly and work in a fast-evolving environment
• Good communication skills are crucial in order to effectively provide creative input to the team
• Consistency regardless of project size
• The motivation to maintain and improve design standards
• The willingness to listen to feedback and use it to improve
• An understanding of digital best practice
• An understanding of UX/UI design and usability best practice
• Experience in designing for web, digital and email
• Working knowledge of HTML and CSS

Qualifications
• Demonstrable graphic design skills with a strong portfolio
• A relevant degree or equivalent experience
• Good working knowledge of Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign

Desired knowledge, skills and experience (not essential, but advantageous)
• An understanding and familiarity with digital best practice and UX/UI design
An understanding of digital best practice
An understanding of UX/UI design and usability best practice
Working knowledge of HTML and CSS
