The Department of Culture, Communication and Media (CCM) is committed to excellence in teaching and research across multidisciplinary programmes that incorporate language and communication, art, design and museology, and music. The Department offers a wide range of Master’s programmes, Secondary initial teacher education (ITE) programmes, short courses, and research degrees.

We are looking to appoint a Lecturer/Associate Professor in modern foreign languages (MFL) education to join a team of researchers and lecturers whose expertise spans a range of areas relevant to the education context. The key duties are to be responsible for the operational and strategic leadership of all the activities of the MFL group, including liaison with the leads for PGCE, Teach First, SCITTs and Schools Direct initial Teacher Education (ITE) programmes. The post holder will take on the leadership of one of the key ITE programmes, such as the PGCE. The post holder will also be expected to teach on and contribute to strategic and/ or operational leadership at Masters and PhD level.

• A doctorate - modern foreign languages in education specialism preferred.
• Experience of teaching, designing and conducting sustained research in fields of modern foreign languages in education
• Evidence of a developing publications track record including peer-reviewed journal articles (a strong record of international publications for Associate Professor);
• The commitment and ability to assume a leadership role in course and/or programme management (evidence of successful leadership is essential for appointment as Associate Professor);
