Assistant Professor in Food Composites

35550 to 47722 per annum (pro-rata if applicable) depending on skills and experience. Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance.

The School is renowned for its excellence in Biomaterial Science and Food Structure research and the appointee will be expected to contribute to and help further develop this internationally recognised research programme leading to high quality publications and grant income. The role will link the existing capabilities in lipid, carbohydrate and protein science, creating developments in the design and properties of Food Composites. The successful applicant will be responsible for generating new intellectual understanding/knowledge, and for developing ideas for application of research and teaching outcomes. The post holder will develop new concepts and ideas and will be expected, where appropriate, to develop and win support for innovative Food Composite research and teaching development proposals/funding bids.

Food Composite material science is central to the success of the Future Food Beacon of Excellence at the University of Nottingham and has strong interaction with the University’s other Beacons in Green Chemicals and Smart Industrial Systems, as well as the Research Priority Areas of Agriculture and Food Security and Translational Biomedical Imaging. Biomaterial Physical Chemistry or a related Science or equivalent substantial research experience in Industry, and have demonstrated potential for research of international quality. Experience of teaching in higher education is also preferable. Candidates must demonstrate excellent communication skills, be self-motivated and be able to work as part of a team.

This is a full-time, permanent post available from 1 September or as soon as possible thereafter and is open to job share.
