Professorship of Paediatric Neuromuscular Disease

Department of Paediatrics and Kellogg College

The Department of Paediatrics in association with Kellogg College is seeking to appoint an outstanding clinical academic to the Professorship of Paediatric Neuromuscular Disease; a person with a proven track record in research leadership who can maintain the high standards of the department. An attractive start-up package will be made available to the successful candidate. This post is available as either a clinical or non-clinical position. The successful clinically qualified candidate will be given an honorary consultant contract with the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The Department of Paediatrics is a world leader in child health research and hosts internationally renowned research programmes in gastroenterology, haematology, HIV, immunology, neuroimaging and vaccinology. Our work spans from early proof-of-concept fundamental science all the way up to its application in clinical settings. The University is currently ranked number one in the world in the In the Times Higher Education (THE) World Rankings and has consistently been ranked in the top three since 2013. Oxford also ranked number one in the world for ‘Clinical, Pre-Clinical and Health’ in the 2018 THE World Rankings.

This is a vibrant department with world-class scientists who attract the best students, and where there are close links to the OUHFT that enable not only the training of clinical academics, but also the translation of discoveries from the bench to the bedside. The Department gained a Silver Athena SWAN award at the last assessment, indicative of the supportive environment here, and we particularly welcome female applicants for this role.
