Associate Professorship of Economics

Department of Economics, Manor Road Building in association with Exeter College, Oxford

Grade 10a: £46,336 - £62,219 p.a.

The University is seeking to appoint a full-time Associate Professor of Economics to start in the academic year 2018/19. The University of Oxford uses the grade of Associate Professor for most of its senior academic appointments. This grade is roughly equivalent to Associate Professor in the USA. Associate Professors are eligible for consideration through regular recognition of distinction exercises for award of the title of full Professor.

The post is associated with a Tutorial Fellowship at Exeter College. Duties will include undertaking independent research and securing funding to support the Department’s research activities, together with teaching and supervision responsibilities for the Department of Economics and the College, and Trustee duties (as a member of the Governing Body) at Exeter College.

Applications are invited from candidates with a completed doctorate in economics and postdoctoral experience in an academic position from any field of economics. Additionally, applicants should have a proven high standard of research and the ability to enthuse and inspire students at both undergraduate and graduate level through tutorials, classes, lectures, and supervision.

The appointment is for 5 years in the first instance, with reappointment to retirement upon completion of a successful review.

The Department and Exeter College offer an exciting research and teaching environment, and an attractive financial package to the successful applicant.

Salary ranges between £46,336 and £62,219 p.a. plus additional benefits (including a College Housing Allowance, currently £8,723 p.a. for Fellows who do not live in the College). Please refer to the Further Particulars for details of the wider benefits package offered by the University and Exeter College, including the combined annual research allowances which – although not part of salary – can be reclaimed up to the value of £4,000 p.a.

Associate professors who are awarded the title of full professor may receive from the University an additional salary payment of £2,700 p.a.

Candidates must submit applications on-line via Econjobmarket: https://econjobmarket.org/postings.php?posid=4693

The closing date for applications is 12.00 noon on 8 February 2018. Interviews are expected to be held over 2 days on 20 and 21 February 2018.

Applications are particularly welcome from women, and black and minority ethnic candidates, who are under-represented in academic posts in Oxford.
