Duties and Responsibilities

You will be a member of the Department of Psychology and Human Development. Our lively and productive department brings together staff with interests in educational psychological and neuro-scientific approaches to learning, development and teaching from early childhood to adulthood and encompassing special and inclusive education. Our profile is distinctive, offering the largest coherent group of psychologists in the UK working in education, child and adolescent development. We seek to enhance our position as national and international leaders in Inclusive SEND provision, of continuing professional development and particularly of our Masters programmes and of our existing strengths in innovative areas of knowledge exchange and knowledge mobilisation internationally.

We wish to appoint an outstanding professional who is committed to driving forward research and excellent provision in the area of special and inclusive education. You will be the Programme Leader for our Masters in Special and Inclusive Education (MASIE). This programme is viewed as our ‘flagship’ programme. It has historically recruited around 70 students annually, a mix of part-time and full-time students, and including amongst others, experienced teachers in the London area and overseas students with a range of backgrounds. You will also further develop and direct our existing Masters degree: International Leadership in Inclusive Education (MAILIE), a program with the clear potential for worldwide reach and impact on policy and practice. Congruent with this, you will be a valuable addition to our world-class research and knowledge exchange culture. This is a very exciting post for the right candidate.

Currently the post title is Senior Lecturer. It is anticipated that from October 2018 all Senior Lecturer posts will have the title of Associate Professor.

The post is available from March 2018
