Post-Doctoral Research Associate: The Evolutionary Ecology Group

We are looking for a population modeller to work with Dr Andrea Manica on a project investigating past demographic history in humans. This ERC funded post is available for up to 6 months, with a start date of 1 September 2017 or soon thereafter.

Applicants will need a PhD in applied mathematics or closely related subjects; they will have advanced programming skills in C++, with experience in devising and implementing spatial models; they should be willing to interact with specialist from other fields, such as archaeology and climatology; able to organise time, plan ahead and to work effectively independently; have good data handling and numerical analysis skills (including R or Matlab), and good communication skills (written and oral); and proven ability work in a team and strong inter-personal skills.

Desirable characteristics are a background knowledge (e.g. from degree courses) of paleo-climate or paleo-vegetation modelling; and/or experience in working with High Performance Computing facilities.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for up to 6 months.
