Professor in Strategy and Innovation

Grade 10, 1.0 FTE

University of Dundee School of Business is seeking to appoint to a Professor in Strategy and Innovation. We are looking for a scholar who is keen to make a strong contribution to both research and teaching in this important area.

Primary Responsibilities

Provide leadership in their area of Strategy and Innovation and contribute to the management of the School as required by the School Director; offer guidance, support and mentoring to junior members of staff working in the same or cognate research and teaching areas with a focus on strategy and innovation

Provide academic leadership in the design and delivery of innovative and high-quality teaching programmes

Engage in high-quality and impactful research at acceptable levels of volume and excellence including KTPS and Innovation Vouchers.

Engage on a continuous and meaningful basis with colleagues in the School and contribute to a cohesive and collegial work environment

Qualification/Training

  • A relevant teaching qualification (PGCHE) or Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (HEA)

    Fellowships with relevant professional bodies (e.g., FCMI, FCIPS, FCILT, FCIPD, etc)

Experience/Knowledge

  • A thorough understanding of institutional management systems and the wider higher education environment, including equal opportunities issues

    A research record that is commensurate with the role, i.e., a track record of publications in a business and management discipline

    A record as editor or associate editor of journals rated internationally excellent by the Chartered ABS Journal Quality Guide

Skills/Abilities

  • Keenness to contribute to the development of the programmes, research and other activities of the School

    Willingness to contribute to a cohesive and supportive corporate culture and a collegiate work environment

    Willingness to engage in professional development activities aimed at obtaining programme-level and/or institutional accreditations, including but not restricted to AMBA, AACSB or EQUIS.

    Willingness to maintain currency of knowledge through engagement in research, consultancy and professional practice, where appropriate

In order to be appointed at the rank of Professor, candidates must be able to demonstrate:

(i) the ability of the individual to make a contribution to the University of strategic importance; this might, for example, include significant leadership responsibilities at a senior level through the encouragement of research and/or pedagogy, the organisation and development of teaching, and/or the promotion of an innovation and enterprise activity;

and

(ii) an outstanding and sustained national (and in the case of research, international) contribution to the advancement of their subject, bringing distinction to themselves and the University.
