College Stipendiary Lecturership in Medieval History


St John’s College intends to appoint a Stipendiary Lecturer in Medieval History for the period 1 October 2017 – 30 September 2018. This is a temporary, fixed-term position created to provide substitute teaching during a tutor’s leave. It is therefore unlikely to be extended or renewed.

The successful candidate will be required to teach up to eight hours of undergraduate tutorials per week during term and to share responsibility for administrative and pastoral duties for undergraduates reading for degrees in History and associated Joint Schools.

Preference will be given to candidates who have, or expect to have completed by 1 October 2017, a doctorate in History. However candidates in the final year of such a doctorate will also be considered.

The salary will be 17,179 p.a. (subject to revision in line with any general salary increases). Full dining rights throughout the period of appointment will be offered. A teaching room will be provided and teaching and research and entertainment allowances are also available.
