Jon Snow

Jon Snow, Channel 4 news broadcaster and journalist, will receive a Doctor honoris causa on Friday 22 June. He has made a significant contribution to journalism for nearly 30 years since his career began in 1983 as ITN’s Washington correspondent.

Professor Stephen Salter

Wave energy’s founding father, Professor Stephen Salter, will receive a Doctor of Science on Monday 25 June. Professor Salter invented the Salter duck energy device in 1977 and his research has played a key role in the development of renewable energy.

Professor Jonathan Mills

On Wednesday 27 June a Doctor honoris causa will be awarded to Professor Jonathan Mills, Director of the Edinburgh International Festival. Professor Mills has been awarded the Australian Centenary medal in 2002 and the Prix Italia in 2005.

Professor Douglas Dunn

Professor Douglas Dunn, Scottish poet and writer, will receive a Doctor of letters on Thursday 28 June. Douglas Dunn was Professor of English and Director of the Scottish Studies Institute at the University of St Andrews for 24 years.

Pascal Lamy

On Wednesday 29 June a Doctor honoris causa will be awarded to Pascal Lamy, Director-General of the World Trade Organisation. Pascal Lamy is currently the fifth Director-General of the World Trade Organisation and was reappointed to serve a second four year term in 2009.
